In this training, we explore the holistic understanding of the gongs as healing instruments, both in theory and practice. It will also offer you effective and creative tools to apply within a sonic healing arts context. It is also an invitation to explore what sound means to you besides strokes and how to share your unique voice as a sound facilitator.

Highlights include:

Each training day will consist of theoretical and practical parts: lectures, interactive inquiries, and individual gong playing. Your further journey into practicing gong sound will be supported by a comprehensive manual and suggestions for further reading materials + resources. You're welcome to apply, whether you're a beginner wanting to get started in the sound world or someone having some previous sound experience.

Martin Balance is an intuitive, sonic and somatic artist, certified Gong Sound Performer, Breath, Mindfulness & Meditation Guide, Somatic Movement & Reiki Practitioner, Kundalini, Yin, Restorative & Yoga Nidra Facilitator, consulting Hellenistic astrologer, experience creator, and keeper of the water sign.

With over 1000 hours of ongoing education since 2019, Martin has taught over 700 hours of classes in Berlin yoga and meditation studios, given 30 workshops, certified a dozen sound facilitators, and hosted 3 multi-day retreats in Berlin and abroad.

With an academic background in art history and cinema (his moon's in Virgo, his Cancer is sun), he puts a lot of care, creativity, and attention to detail into each of his unique experiences. His practice is inspired by the healing and creative power of sound, his signature. 

Meet your Teacher

Martin is a certified Gong & Sound Practitioner, trained under the supervision of Kay Karl in the Individual Gong Master Teacher Training Level 1-3, offering intuitive group and private sound sessions and gong meditation classes. As a Sound Explorer from an early age, he was inspired by the music that brought him to study art history and respectively cinema & sound, both passions that now he combines also during his Gong Sonic Performances in art galleries and institutions.

Martin is, furthermore, a certified Reiki practitioner, finished Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training (220 hours) at Karam Kriya, International School of Kundalini Yoga, in Berlin. He consequently completed Yin Yoga Teacher Training (100 h) with Liina Tael & Valérie Hartwich and Leading Yoga Nidras (20 h) with Theo Wildcroft. In 2021, he accomplished 15 days (over 200 hours) of Mindfulness Meditation Course (the Mahasi Sayadaw technique) at Dhammanikhom Vipassana-Meditationszentrum with the personal guidance of Ven. Bhikkhuni Silavaddhani.

Later that year, he participated in an LGBTQI+ Vipassana Meditation Course organized by Sangha Metta with Pascal Auclair. From 2021 to 2023, Martin completed the First & Second (Advanced) Years of Study in the Traditional Hellenistic Astrology and Mysticism Certification Course: Ancient Astrology for the Modern Mystic with Adam Elenbaas. In 2023, Martin became a certified Transformational Breathwork Facilitator under Brian Kelly, Master Breath Coach.
